Echinacea: Flame Thrower (136)

This reliable rebloomer has two-toned orange and yellow flowers. Add to this, a well-branched habit and you've got a great choice for the middle of the border, used in a parking strip, or along a fence line. Here's a fragrant choice that is easy to grow and blooms all summer. One of the earliest of the coneflowers to bloom for us in Oregon.

Common Name: Coneflower

Family: Asteraceae

Plant Type: Herbaceous perennial

USDA Hardiness Zone(s): 4-9

Habit: Mounding

Size (W/HT/FL HT): 40"/36"/40"

Growth Rate: Fast

Most Active Growing Season: Late spring

Flowering Season(s) : Summer & fall

Soil: Coarse to slightly mineral.

pH: 5.8-7.3

Light: Sun

Nutritional Needs: Moderate. Too low a pH may be fatal.

Dormancy: Required

Water: Dry moderately between waterings.

Landscape Value : Middle of the border, in a parking strip, or along a fence line.

Finish Time to 4": 6-8 weeks

Comments: Plants shipped in fall require winter protection. Flowers should be deadheaded to prolong bloom. We recommend transplanting to a 4" pot from a plug, not a larger size container if you receive the plants in the fall.
